Overview
PANACEA is a speculative sci-fi novel exploring generational conflict, planetary migration, and the weight of humanity’s legacy. The design brief was clear: create a striking cover that feels cinematic, intelligent, and timeless — blending retrofuturism with contemporary visual precision.

The Brief
Design a Kindle and print-ready book jacket for PANACEA, with visual elements that echo epic space travel, cosmic logic, and the tension between organic life and technological futures. Before locking in the final direction for PANACEA, I explored multiple concept paths to visually represent the book’s central themes — cosmic inheritance, technology, evolution, and the fight for future worlds.

These early treatments focused on:
Retinal symbolism: A human-meets-machine gaze reflecting genetic memory, AI, and surveillance
Planetary collision: Celestial body motifs suggesting destruction and rebirth
Digital circuitry: Sci-fi interfaces and neural nets representing technological omnipresence
Cosmic portals: Evoking time loops, wormholes, and alternate realities
Each treatment used the modified typeface with a triangular "A" to unify all directions under a single conceptual signature.
These studies served as the visual playground for building out the final system — balancing narrative, genre, and aesthetic clarity.

Concept & Exploration
From the start, we knew the spaceship would be our totem. A single vessel rising from Martian sands, facing the cosmos. Supporting elements like neural networks, planetary maps, and a triangular "A" glyph helped construct the design language.

We further explored:
Alternate spacecraft silhouettes
Typographic systems with symbolic geometry
Background environments: digital vs planetary
Visual hierarchy across formats

Typography & Style Guide
The title “PANACEA” uses a clean sans-serif font, with the triangle replacing the 'A' to suggest ascension, equilibrium, and ancient wisdom. The colour palette anchors deep blue voids with rust red landscapes and chrome-accented whites.

Final Artwork
The front cover features a bold vertical rocket, glowing against a Martian sunrise. The spine is minimalist and clear, while the back cover contains neural network visuals, author bio, barcode, and story blurb — cleanly laid out for both physical and digital reads.
